Learn About Your Lake Day

Where did our lake come from? What keeps it healthy? How do I get involved?

Answers to these questions and more can be found out during this Sunday

Schedule of activities will include:

1pm: "Know the Bear Facts" by the DEP: Clubhouse

This program provides practical information about coexisting with bears and tips on how to react if a black bear is encountered. The program includes an audio/visual presentation, a question and answer period and a few show-and-tell items. This program is suitable for adults and children of all ages.

2pm: The Biotic Index with Jeff Keith and Al Gazdalski: First Beach

A great activity for Adults and Kids ages 10 and older. Younger children may participate if accompanied by an adult. Children may get wet while working with the seine nets, please dress appropriately.

3pm: Lake Ecology Questions and Answer Session: First Beach

Got Geese? Al will talk about the product we’ve been using on our beaches that has worked to keep things a lot cleaner. What fertilizers should I use? Jeff will talk about non phosphorous fertilizers and how you can help protect our lake.

Second Annual Lake Shawnee Photo Contest: Clubhouse

All photos will be available for viewing and voting beginning at 1pm

Winners will be announced at 3pm

Refreshments will be served at the Clubhouse!!
